Weaned from the uneven erosions of the Escarpment School, Canada’s newest phenom, the Adoptees, are a gaggle of eye jocks whose blood lines have been cut from birth. All have been adopted, all live beneath an uncertain name and history. They hold these beliefs to be self evident: that film is not meant to make money but to spend it, that architecture never sleeps, that genius is not a gift but the way out one invents in desperate cases, that for those who can’t change their whole life or occupation even a change in dress is a relief. Reach for relief this Saturday with the Adoptees, Canada’s newest rage.
Accompanied by a talk from Mike Hoolboom. Saturday May 20, 1989, 8pm. Saskatchewan Filmpool, 1100 Broad Street, Main Floor, Regina. Admission is free.
